Demonstrating thin frame manufacturing strategy at its extreme. By maintaining a 5:1 ratio stepping down the frame and crucially never returning to a thin section there is sufficient part stiffness to react the cutting forces and a stable process is achieved.
When cutting vibrations are transmitted from the cutting edge to the chuck main body, radial vibrations are dampened by the internal split taper cone. Axial vibrations are dampened by the disc spring that provides pre-loading to the taper cone. Therefore, no vibration is transmitted up into the taper shank of the machine spindle.
This prevents and counters any fretting corrosion occurring between the main spindle of the M/C and the taper shank of the tool holder. Vibration free stable cutting is then achieved at the cutting edge.
