The X-Treme aerospace artefact demonstration highlights not only the effectiveness of the X-Treme holder to ensure absolute tool retention in real world applications, but also its versatile application range.
Two of the most common metal cutting methods applied during airframe manufacture are full slot machining and controlled radial machining (high speed). Both are very different in application, however in terms of productivity and force generation they are incredibly similar and it is for this reason an anti-pull-out device is required for both manufacturing methodologies.
